‘They’re charmless, all this government - Blair has never run a business or worked in industry or commerce where jobs and wealth are created. My own family business closed down because of heavy bureaucratic costs’

Letter in Daily Mail

'There is a beauty and arrogance in the EU's expression Corpus Juris for the EU Federal Legal System. It was the title given by the Roman's to the Body of Laws by which they determined to rule their Empire'

Speech in Edinburgh, 2002

This thing called Europe

My site is independent, but I refer you to the commonsense found in the official website of “UKIP” (slightly adjusted by me; my thanks to UKIP wisdom)

Ten reasons why Britain should leave the ‘EU’My aim is to create a proper awkward squad of MPs to keep the Big Parties honest

  • To end the drain on the country’s finances
  • To reintroduce the full authority of Westminster
  • To impose British policies on Agriculture and Fisheries
  • To capitalise on Britain’s individual national strengths
  • The ‘euro’ depends on ‘political integration’ so far not achieved
  • ‘Protectionism’ is not free trade, it is inward-looking
  • There never has been a ‘common agenda’ - we are now free
  • Our legal system is not that of Napoleon: it has distinct merits
  • We must control OUR armed forces and how they are used
  • Continental ethos is mostly in a mess – we protect our future

‘EU sceptics’ protest that this ‘EU’Have I always told the truth? I would be very surprised if I had!

  • is a ‘Monster’ aiming at political integration
  • is a fantastic VR machine ‘running itself’ via live Bureaucrats
  • is an unprincipled, unaccountable ‘Gravy Train’ for those on it
  • is in ‘governance’ basically supra-nationalist and undemocratic
  • is controlled by a ‘board’ of unelected ‘Commissioners’
  • is MEP-sheep like in ‘approving’ legislation (for 450 million!)
  • is a mere production line of dire Directives and Regulations
  • is incapable of inspiring ‘European’ competitiveness, not one jot
  • is wrong for a free-Europe and for Britain

They (the Euro-philes) claim that the ‘EU’:

  • is working to re-unite ‘Europe’
this ‘EU’ cannot re-unite ‘Europe’ as Europe has never been united, except partially by force, in its existence
  • is an association of freely co-operating ‘States’
The populaces, the electorates, of ‘Europe’ states have never heard true ‘EU elite political intentions’ nor allowed voting freedom until 2005
  • is a democratically-controlled organisation
Commissioners are not ‘elected’, MEP's are predominantly ‘pro-EU sheep’ and directives and regulations have virtually no chance of being changed
  • is a keeper of the peace in ‘Europe’
NATO kept the Cold War peace, not the EEC, the ‘Common Market’ nor the EU; nor has anything changed: the artificial ‘EU’ is impotent
  • is actively working for its ‘good environment’
Protecting the ‘Environment’ - earth, water, air - encompasses climate change (obvious, but man-made?) and the EU ‘policies’ are hot air
  • is a large free-trade area
It is a Customs Union, a common tariff structure with third countries, ensuring income is paid into a central EU fund; FTA allows ‘freedom’
  • is unable to become a centralised ‘Super-state’
Behind the scenes, since well before 1957, political union – secretively! - Has been THE target, as economic union would always fail without itIt’s a joke often repeated: if the EU today applied to itself for membership, it wouldn’t stand a chance!
